Last week I had the absolute pleasure of entertaining at a very special community event called Empty Bowls. The project is a grass-roots effort to raise money for local food shelves in the Robbinsdale, MN area. Each year this event features handmade ceramic bowls for the attendees, created by the community and local artists. It featured many other entertainers besides myself such as the African Student Association of Cooper, the All District Choir, the All District Orchestra, Afro Hip Hop Dance by Ranita Bellanger, the Plymouth Rockers, and super cute therapy animals!

This was my first year participating but I had so much fun myself with the attendees I’m already planning on attending next year! Originally I was scheduled to perform at the Empty Bowls 2020 event but it was unfortunately canceled due… well you know…

They raised $30,000 which feeds 300 families in the community for a month. I was proud to be a part of such a special and very much needed event!

David Farr performs for Sharon Pleimling founder of Empty Bowls

Sharon Pleimling

I was informed afterwards that I performed for the founder of the Empty Bowls Robbinsdale mission, Sharon Pleimling. She started it 13 years ago! Sharon and her crew were so much fun to amaze with card tricks and an attempted watch steal (inside joke).
